Order on arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia Aug 29

Staff Correspondent: A court will deliver its order August 29 on a petition seeking an arrest warrant against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a defamation case filed over her remark on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Awami League.

AB Siddique, plaintiff of the case and president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, filed the petition with Court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Said on Monday.

AB Siddique filed the defamation case on January 25, 2017.

In the complaint, Siddique alleged that Khaleda, at a programme on December 31 in 2016, said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to be the prime minister of undivided Pakistan rather than leading Bangladesh (the then East Pakistan) to independence.

Moreover, in the name of development, the Awami League government looted a large amount of money by delaying the work of flyovers and Padma Bridge.
