Outlaw leader killed in Chuadanga ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent: A regional leader of the outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the elite force RAB in the district’s Alamganda upazila on Wednesday midnight.

The gunfight took place around 1. 00am at Khaskorba village of the upazila.

The deceased was indemnified as Oltu Mondal, son of Jharu Sheikh at Tiorbila village under the upazila.

RAB-6 Regional Commander Major Monir Ahmed said a group of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) was patrolling in the area. Terrorists fired at RAB's car during this time. RAB also backed fire. Bullet –hit Oltu Mondal was recovered from the spot and he was rushed to Alamdanga Upazila Health Complex but the duty doctors declared him dead.

A gun and four rounds of bullets were recovered from the scene. The body was sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
