Parliament Correspondent: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Monday told the Jatiya Sangsad that a total of 31,22,756 foreign tourists have travelled to Bangladesh in last six years.
The minister said this while responding to a question of ruling Awami League MP Shamsul Haque Chowdhury in the parliament on Monday.
Of the total, 5,30,665 tourists travelled to Bangladesh in 2010, 5,93,677 tourists in 2011, 5,88,193 tourists in 2012, 2,77,596 tourists in 2013, 4,89,531 tourists in 2014 and 6,43,094 tourists in 2015, Menon said.
The minister said, "The government has taken various steps to make Bangladesh Biman as a more profitable organisation."
An effort to organise business to business meeting is being taken so that Bangladesh tour operators can build business relation with the tour operators of potential source countries, he said.
Websites dealing with the tourism are being updated in digital and online platform so that the foreign tourists can easily avail the information relating to tourism in the country, the minister told the parliament.
