Over 500 passengers narrowly escape terrible accident

Staff Correspondent: More than five hundred passengers narrowly escaped a horrible accident as Dhaka bound Parabat Express crashed into a wood-laden truck at the capital Azampur on Wednesday night.

Shafiqul Islam, Senior Officer of Uttara Fire Station, said on Thursday morning, "The Parabat Expresse was heading towards Kamalapur around 11:30pm. On the way, it smashed into a truck while labours were unloading wood trunks near a saw mill at Azampur, causing a giant trunk fell under the train.

The train stopped dragging the trunk nearly 200 feet ahead.  Being informed, Fire Service men rushed to the spot and removed it with their frantic efforts of an hour to run the train, he added.

Airport Station manager Moran Chandra told risingbd that bogies of the train might have derailed or caused fire due to the incident.
