PM Hasina accorded guard of honour

Desk Report: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was accorded ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in India on Saturday.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Sheikh Hasina at the Rashtrapati Bhawan after which she was accorded the guard of honour.

Earlier in the day, Sheikh Hasina visited Rajghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Sheikh Hasina is visiting India after a gap of 7 years. She had last visited India in January 2010.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set aside the protocol and reached Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) to personally received Sheikh Hasina.

Interestingly, officials belonging to Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina's entourage were seen taking selfies with Indian PM Narendra Modi at the airport.

Hasina will hold wide-ranging talks with PM Modi on Saturday during which India is set to announce a line of credit of $ 500 million to Bangladesh for military supplies.

India and Bangladesh are likely to sign a bunch of pacts during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to New Delhi but it is unlikely that the much awaited Testa pact will be among them.

Both countries are also likely to expand cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, transport and energy.
