PM approves main design of Swadhinata Stambha

Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the design of the master plan (third phase) of the 'Swadhinata Stambha' (Independence Monument) being constructed at Suhrawardi Udyan in the capital.

The prime minister gave the approval after reviewing the proposed design of the project at a meeting at her Gonobhaban residence here on Wednesday.

While briefing reporters, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said Chief architect of the Department of Architecture Qazi Golam Nasir and Deputy Chief Architect Asifur Rahman Bhuiyan gave a power point presentation before the prime minister on the project plan.

The prime minister witnessed the presentation and approved the project with some directives, the press secretary said.

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossen, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya were present during this time.
