PM directs to take Feni female madrasa student to Singapore

Senior Correspondent: Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi who was set ablaze allegedly by fellow students on April 6 will be taken to Singapore for better treatment at the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Process to take her to Singapore has begun at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

“Nusrat will be taken to Singapore for better treatment at the directives of the Prime Minister,” said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Earlier, Nusrat had accused Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa Principal Sirajuddoula of sexually harassing her.

The principal was arrested on March 17 and subsequently suspended. A number of students pressed for his release while another group demanded his punishment.

Nusrat went to Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa centre around 9:30 am on Saturday to attend Alim examinations when some students, loyal to Principal Sirajuddoula, took her to the roof and set her on fire, her brother Rashedul Hasan Raihan claimed.
