PM terms proposed budget ‘pro-people’

Desk Report: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has termed the proposed budget for fiscal 2019-20 as a pro-people budget.
She said, “The proposed budget is for social welfare and wellbeing for all.”
The premier said this during her post-budget press conference at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.
She said, “I don’t know on what research they’re [research organisations] doing. The main thing is whether the general people are happy or not, whether we’re being able to do good for them.”
“I don’t know what they’ll bring for the country through research. Our target is to make the country free from poverty and achieve development…we’re working to this end…Bangladesh is no longer a country of beggars,” PM added.
