PM vows to make country poverty-free

Senior Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said Awami League is working to build a hunger-poverty free Sonar Bangla.

The premier said this while addressing reporters after paying homage to Bangabandhu on the occasion of the party’s 70th founding anniversary.

She said, “Bangladesh has been marching towards development after the Awami League came to power. The Bengali nation has achieved status across the world.”

“It is our [Awami League’s] commitment on this day that we will build hunger and poverty free, developed and prosperous golden Bangladesh.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to Bangabandhu placing floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in capital’s Dhanmondi.

Later, she hoisted the national flag and party flag. Meanwhile, pigeons and balloons were released.
