PM's speech directional

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her speech, depicted the atrocities of Myanmar military on Rohingya people at the 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 72).

In front of the world leaders, the Bangladesh Prime Minister presented the picture of Rohingya torture, rape, torching houses and other international crimes against humanity in Rakhine State.

Sheikh Hasina explained about the conditions of Rohingyas and why they were forced to take shelter in Bangladesh. Her touchy Bengali speech was directional over Rohingya refugee crisis.

The Bangladesh Prime Minister also placed a five-point proposal to the UN to resolve the Rohingya crisis. Myanmar must unconditionally stop the violence and the practice of ethnic cleansing in the Rakhine State immediately, UN Secretary General should immediately send a fact-finding mission to Myanmar, all civilians irrespective of religion and ethnicity must be protected in Myanmar and 'safe zones' could be created inside Myanmar under UN supervision. Sheikh Hasina also suggested that the recommendations of the Kofi Annan Commission Report must be immediately implemented unconditionally and in its entirety.

More than four lakh Rohingyas took shelter in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar in last month. Besides, about five lakh Rohingyas entered Bangladesh previously. Bangladesh is facing trouble to take care of these huge numbers of refugees. The economy of the country is being harmed. Explaining the overall condition before world leaders, the Bangladesh Prime Minister demanded a quick and permanent solution over Rohingya crisis. Side-by -side, she also drew attention to developed and developing countries to get sympathy of the countries those are facing refugee crisis.

Aiming leaders of world countries and representatives, the Prime Minister in her emotional speech at UNGA said, "I've come here just after seeing the hungry, distressed and hopeless Rohingyas from Myanmar who have taken shelter in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. This forcibly-displaced people of Myanmar are fleeing an 'ethnic cleansing' in their own country where they've been living for centuries," she said.

Basically, refugee problem is not only in Bangladesh. Several countries of the world are facing the crisis. So, it's a global issue now. It can be said that the call of Prime Minister will play an important role to ensure safe return of all refugees across the world. The world leaders discussed again and again over Rohingya cleansing and Rohingya refugees.

The proposal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Rohingya crisis at UNGA was greeted hugely. However, there are a lot of limitations of Bangladesh but, the stand of the country over Rohingya people is rare. World leaders praised Bangladesh and promised to stay beside Bangladesh and Rohingya people until the crisis ends.

We think that the future of Rohingyas is depending on implementation of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's five point proposal. As Rohingya crisis has created a barrier on the way of peach and stability in this region so, the problem should be resolved soon. The Prime Minister in her speech demanded entirety implementation of Kofi Annan Commission Report. Basically, that's the permanent solution to the Rohingya crisis. Sending back the Rohingya refugees to Myanmar is not permanent solution as the same problem can be created again if the Myanmar government doesn't change the thought towards Rohingyas.
