Palak unveils Bangabandhu Rajshahi Silicon City's construction

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Friday unveiled the foundation-stone of a portion of infrastructure of Bangabandhu Rajshahi Silicon City project at Zianagar area in the metropolis.

ICT division has started implementing the hi-tech park project on 34 acres of land at a cost of Taka 281.91 crore as the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is keen to implement the project for socio-economic development of the region.

After unveiling the foundation-stone, State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said more than 14,000 youths would be employed in Bangabandhu Rajshahi Silicon City.

Former Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Ayen Uddin, MP, and Managing Director of Hi-tech Park Authority Hosney Ara Begum also spoke. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Kazi Ashraf Uddin chaired the launching ceremony.

Palak said the present government is pledge-bound to promote the ICT sector for overall development of the country.

To this end, the government has been implementing massive programmes and people of both rural and urban areas are enjoying benefits of modern technology, he added. Young people are being imparted time-befitting IT training for their empowerment, Palak said.

Foreign companies, he said, would be allowed to provide technological support for developing local industries.

The park intends to create atmosphere for establishing industries on ICT, engineering, electronics, telecommunication and biotechnology. Besides, new more avenues of employment for the ICT people will be created in this venture.
