Panic spreads out from smoke, airport activities normal

Staff Correspondent: Not from fire, panic spread out from smoke created by electrical disturbances at ceiling at Emigration-1 of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, according Fire Service duty officer Atikurl Rahman.

He said, “We got information that fire broke out at the second floor of the airport around 6:00pm on Sunday. Being informed, seven units of Fire Service rushed to the spot immediately and made the situation normal.”

Later, Director General (DG) of Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate Brig Gen Mohammad Ali said, “Nothing to be worried, all will be normal soon. Electrical disturbance created smoke at ceiling at the Emigration. We are now trying to find out how the smoke created and from where it spread out.”

Kazi Iqbal Kabir, director of Civil Aviation, said, “Now all the activities are normal in the airport. Nothing to be paniced.”

He said, “Panic gripped all after smoke was seen from Emigration lobby. No fire was found in the airport. Panic spread out just from smoke.”
