Staff Correspondent: Law Minister Anisul Haq said, “The current parliament will not dissolve and will continue until its validity ends. As per the constitution, the parliament session the President has convened on September 9 will be the last session of this parliament.”
The minister made the remark while talking to reporters after attending as the chief guest at a meeting organised on the occasion of giving wages to copyists at Dhaka District Registrar’s Office in Dhaka’s Tejgaon area on Monday afternoon.
Replying to another question, Anisul Haq said, “It is not my duty to come up with the announcement of timeframe of election-time government. Our leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will come up with the announcement.”
Asked about size of the election-time government, he said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina knows what the size of the election-time government will be, as the premier is responsible to form the polls-time government according to the constitution.”
The law minister informed that a proposal for the amendment of the Representation of the People Order (RPO) has reached to the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs division of the Law Ministry from the Election Commission (EC) for its vetting.
Anisul said the relevant file regarding the RPO amendment will be sent to his office after the legislative and parliamentary affairs division examines it.
