Pension beneficiaries to get pension again

Staff Correspondent: The government today approved a proposal to bring those government officials and employees who have already withdrawn their cent percent pension money after going into retirement under a pension scheme afresh which will come into effect from July 1, 2017.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the proposal of the Finance Ministry.

The Finance Division of the Finance Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard after the President gave his assent to the proposal on Monday (Oct 8).

The government officials and employees who went into retirement are going to get such facilities for the first time in the country. Initially, around 20,000 retired government officials and employees will be brought under the purview of such pension scheme. Additional cost of Tk 145 crore in the pension sector will be needed for the initiative taken by the government.
