Petition seeks arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia

Staff Correspondent: A petition has been filed seeking an arrest warrant against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a case filed for hurting religious sentiments.

AB Siddiqui filed the case on October 21, 2014, accusing Khaleda Zia of using alleged defamatory remarks, intended to create conflict among the people of different social strata and beliefs.

The case docket says that while addressing a function of the Hindu community at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh , on October 14, 2014, Khaleda Zia said, “Awami League leaders are pretending to be secular but they have no faith in any religion.”
