‘Pirate chief’ killed in Noakhali gunfight

Noakhali Correspondent: A suspected pirate was killed in a gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Kanchan Bazar of Char Jabbar under Subarnachar upazila early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Fakir Batainnya, 42, chief of Fakir Bahini, son of Mostafa Batainnya, hailed from Tumchar of Ramgati in Lakshmipur district.

RAB-11 additional police super Md Jasim Uddin Chowdhury said, acting on secret information, RAB conducted a drive in the area. Meanwhile, robbers opened fire aiming RAB members. In reply, RAB also opened fire, leaving the robber bullet-injured.

Later, the injured was sent to Char Jabbar Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared him dead.
