Police still clueless over ASP Mizanur murder

Staff Correspondent: Police are yet to confirm the motive behind the murder of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Savar highway circle Mizanur Rahman Talukder although nearly five days into his murder have passed.

After the incident, the victim's brother Masum Talukder filed a murder case in this connection. Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police is investigating the case.

The case is being supervised by Golam Mostofa Rasel, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of DB.

“We have started the investigation into the case and tried to get information about the murder motive talking to Mizanur’s relatives and friends. But none of them was able to provide any clue regarding the murder. We have checked the call list of the two mobile phones used by the ASP. We are not getting any clue that can help us confirm the reason behind the murder,” ADC Golam Mostofa said.

We are trying our best to nab the killers, he added.

Quoting Mizanur’s family, a source dealing with the investigation said Mizanur left his residence in Sector-5 of Uttara around 5:00am for his office. Since then, he remained missing.

Later, police recovered the body of ASP Mizanur Ranman Talukder, 50, from near Birualia Bridge around 11:30am on Wednesday (June 21), possibly dumped by the assailants after killing him at some other place.

A piece of cloth was found wrapped around his neck during the recovery of him. Police confirmed that Mizanur was strangulated to death.
