Police raid Shafat's house

Staff Correspondent: Police have raided the residence of Shafat Ahmed, an accused in a case filed over raping two university girls in the capital's Banani, but did not find him in the house.
Cops believed he went in hiding to escape arrest in the case.
A team of Banani police went to house no. 62 at Gulshan 2 around 11:00am on Tuesday and searched the house.
Confirming the news, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, also Inspector of Banani Police Station, Abdul Matin said, "We are conducting drives at residences of all accused. In the morning, we searched for Shafat at his house, but did not find him. He might have fled to escape arrest."
On Saturday, one of the victims filed the case accusing five people. Shafat and Nayem Ashraf allegedly raped the girls more than a month ago in 'The Rain Tree Hotel' at Banani while three others assisted them.
Shafat's driver Billal, an unnamed bodyguard, and another young man Sadman Shafiq were accused of assisting Shafat and Nayem.
