Police won't be responsible for individual misdeeds: DMP

Staff Correspondent: Police force will not bear the responsibility of the misdeeds committed by any individual of the law enforcement agency.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia came up with the statement on Wednesday while talking to newsmen at Shahbagh intersection in city after greeting city people on the occasion of its founding anniversary.  

The DMP commissioner's statement came over the assault on two ATN News journalists during a strike against Rampal power plant in city. Some members of Shahbagh Police Station assaulted the journalists while they were capturing footage of the law enforcers during the strike on January 26.

"Action will be taken against the police members who will be found guilty in the incident. However, police won't take the responsibility of the misdeed done by any individual members of the force," the DMP Commissioner said.

He emphasized on research and analysis over such kind of incidents. "When a police member works 16 hours in place of 8 hours, then they can't retain their normal behaviour," Asaduzzaman Mia added.
