Polls on Dec 30, no scope to defer any further: EC

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has announced to hold the upcoming 11th general election on December 30, saying there is no scope to defer polls any further.

EC secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed told this in a briefing at Nirbachan Bhaban on Thursday Afternoon.

He said, “Considering all issues, EC has decided to arrange polls on December 30. There is no scope to defer it any further.”

In reply to a query, he said Jatiya Party (JP) of HM Ershad and Bikalpadhara Bangladesh are not in the Awami League (AL) led alliance. But Jatiya Party (JP) of Anwar Hossain Manju remains in the alliance.
