Special Correspondent: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said the polls-time government is likely to be formed on Friday, after Election Commission (EC) had announced schedule for the 11th general election on Thursday.
The Minister told this to the reporters after emerging from a meeting of the cabinet committee on government purchase at the conference room of the cabinet at the secretariat on Thursday.
Muhith said, “It cannot be said now if any new minister would be appointed in the polls-time government. It totally depends on Prime Minister’s decision. But technocrat ministers have already stepped down in line with PM’s directions, but their resignation letters have yet not been accepted.”
When asked whether new ministers would be appointed in the ministries run by technocrats, he said, “No, now new ministers would be appointed. Offices of the ministries would be handed over to some current ministers as additional charges.”
When asked again that you are sure of not appointing any new minister, he said, “I’m fairly sure. As the government is a coalition government. So, there is no need for this. I do not think about any addition to the cabinet.”
