Staff Correspondent: The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been asked to keep hoisted the local cautionary signal no 3, as a low pressure system has formed over the North Bay and the adjoining areas.
A weather bullet confirmed the matter on Friday.
“The low is likely to intensify further… Under its influence steep pressure Gradient persists over North Bay and adjoining areas,” said the met office warning.
Due to this well marked low, the low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Borguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barishal, Pirozpur, Jhalokathi, Bagherhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by wind driven surge of 2-4 feet height above normal astronomical tide, the massage added.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
