Power generation capacity to be doubled by 2021

Parliament Correspondent: State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, said steps have been taken to make power generation capacity double by 2021.

The minister made the disclosure while replying to a question of Israfil Alam member of the parliament (MP) at the national parliament on Thursday.

He said that now the power distribution line in the country is 4 lakh, one thousand kilometer while the power transmission line is 10,436 circuit kilometer.

The government has taken steps to increase the power distribution line to 4 lakh 78 thousand kilometer and the power transmission line to 20,581 circuit kilometers.

The demand of power supply is increasing at 8-10 percent every year, he added.
