President, PM express deep shock at Razzak's death

Staff Correspondent: President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed profound shock at the death of legendary Bangla film actor Razzak who passed away at a city hospital this evening.

President Abdul Hamid in a condolence message said Razzak will ever be remembered for his outstanding contributions to the Bangla film industry, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin said.

"His contributions will be remembered from one generation to another for his role in spreading Bangali culture across the world through his movies," he said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her condolence message recalled Razzak's contributions to the film industry.

Razzak was bright star in Bangla film and the film society will face an irreparable loss due to his death, she said.

The premier prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, leader of the opposition in the parliament Rowshan Ershad, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia also expressed their deep shock at the death of the legendary actor.

Legendary Bangladesh film actor Abdur Razzak, popularly known as Nayak Raj Razzak, breathed his last in the capital's United Hospital around 6:13pm on Monday at the age of 76.
