President, PM greet 'Public Administration Padak' recipients

Desk Report: President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday greeted the recipients of "Public Administration Padak-2017" on the eve of the Public Service Day.

In a message on the occasion, the President said he is happy to know that the Ministry of Public Administration is distributing the 'Public Administration Padak-2017' as the public servants play a significant role in completing the government works.

The civil service is mainly run by different laws, rules-regulations, circular and order-restriction, he said, adding, "The present civil service has brought many changes and the administration is now working towards development and welfare."

People expect good governance and service from the civil servants, the President said, adding, "The government has taken various measures for building a people-oriented civil service".

He said the government announced vision 2021 and vision 2041 to make Bangladesh a technology-based, modern and developed country.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a separate message said an efficient, effective, economic, efficient and time befitting administrative system is the key to sustainable development.

"Bangladesh civil administration is engaged in providing services for the people as part of the executive wing," she said.

She added the government has arranged training programmes at home and abroad for members of the civil service aimed at making them capable of reaching services to the people.

"Sincere efforts of our government is underway to reach services to marginal people at affordable cost through improving and making easy the ICT activities, as part of our plan to turn Bangladesh into a digital country," the Prime Minister added.

She said the government has already increased salary and allowances of the civil servants, as incentive for public servants is related to the Public Administration Padak.

Sheikh Hasina said the Golden Jubilee of our independence would be celebrated in 2021 and hoped that all civil servants would contribute to making Bangladesh a middle-income country within this period.
