President, PM pay respects at Nat'l memorial

Staff Correspondent: President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to martyrs at the National Mausoleum in Savar, on outskirts of capital Dhaka, Monday morning to mark the 48th Independence Day.

The president and the premier placed floral wreaths at 6:00am.

Later, they observed a minute’s silence there. Meanwhile, chiefs of the three services were also present at the national memorial.

Afterward, flanked by senior party leaders, Sheikh Hasina, also Awami League President laid another wreath at the National Mausoleum as the party chief.

Earlier, tight security measures were taken in the Memorial premises area on the occasion.
