President signs three bills

Secretariat Correspondent: President Abdul Hamid assented to three bills passed in the second session of the 11th parliament.

A Parliament Secretariat handout has been issued in this regard on Thursday.

The bills are Plant Variety Protection Bill, 2019, Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council Bill, 2019 and Insurance Corporation Bill, 2019.

The Jatiya Sangsad on April 28 passed the Plant Variety Protection Bill, 2019, aiming to protect intellectual property rights of local farmers alongside the researchers and experts.

The Parliament on April 29 passed the National Social Welfare Council Bill, 2019 seeking to have a law for the Council as it had been running since 1956 through a resolution and then a government decision.

On April 30, the Jatiya Sangsad passed the Insurance Corporation Bill seeking to raise the amount of authorised and paid-up capital of both Jiban Bima Corporation and Sadharan Bima Corporation.
