Prices of vegetables increase in capital

Staff Correspondent: The prices of vegetables went up in the city’s kitchen markets compared to the last week.

Visiting several retail kitchen markets in Dhaka including Jigatola, Rayerbazar, the reporter found that vendors were selling some vegetables for prices that were high. The prices of vegetables increased by Tk 10 a kilogram over the week in the city markets.

Aubergine was selling at Tk 60-70 a kg, cucumber at Tk 80 a kg, tomatoes at Tk 100 a kg, okra at Tk 45 a kg, palwal at Tk 50 a kg, bottle gourd at Tk 50 per kg, long bean at Tk 60 a kg and bean Tk 125 on Friday.

The price of green chilli remained high over the week. The item was retailing at Tk 110 a kg, while papaya was selling at Tk 40 a kg. Besides, bitter gourd at Tk 60, carrot at Tk 90 per kg, potato at 28 a kg and cauliflower at Tk 60 per piece.
