Parliament Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Prisons jailed without trial can seek compensation to the authorities concerned and state. There is a law regarding this.”
The premier made the comment while replying to a tabled question of Jatiya Party MP Nurul Islam Milon (Comilla-8) at the 14th session of 10th parliament at 3:25pm on Wednesday with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Sheikh Hasina said, “The government is taking various steps to initiate speedy trial in the cases pending with the court. The government has already brought various infrastructural changes including the formation of speedy trial court and tribunal to speed up the trial.”
The Leader of the House said the incumbent government has taken effective steps so that no criminals are detained in the prison without trial for long time.
The government has also taken initiatives to know the exact number of criminals who were jailed without trial for long time, the prime minister added.
