Private varsity student shot dead in Savar

Staff Correspondent: A student was shot dead in Savar’s City University on Monday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sifat, 25, a 8th semister student of textile engineering department.

A teacher of the university said that there was a dispute between Sifat and a student over trifle matter. Following the dispute, some outsiders picked him up and opened fire, leaving Sifat and another one named Basudeb injured.

Later, the injured were sent to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared Sifat dead.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-charge (OC) SM Kamruzzaman of Savar Model Police Station said that police detained two people following the incident.
