Probe report on BB reserve heist on Jun 19

Staff Correspondent: A court here fixed June 19 for submission of the investigation report in the case filed over reserves heist from Bangladesh Bank.

Dhaka Metropolitan Judge AKM Moin Uddin Siddique on Sunday fixed the new date on, as Criminal Investigation Department (CID) did not submitted the report on the date fixed earlier.

Earlier on March 16, the court ordered CID to submit the probe report.

On February 5, 2016, hackers successfully made an attempt to steal US $ 81 million from Bangladesh Bank’s forex reserve in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York following instructions to siphon off $951m from the Bangladesh central bank’s account with the Fed. Later, the money was transferred to Philippine.

Deputy Director of Bangladesh Bank's Accounts and Budgeting Department Zobaer Bin Huda filed a case with Motijheel Police Station against unidentified people on March 15 regarding the theft. Currently CID is investigating the case.
