Process for next polls begins in Oct: CEC

Satkhira Correspondent: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said that the process for holding the 11th parliamentary election will begin in October this year.

The CEC said this while talking to the journalists at Satkhira Circuit House on Monday.

He hoped that all the political parties in the country would join the next polls. He also said that the election may be held in December this year or January in 2019.

The CEC mentioned that there is no scope of using EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) in the coming national election, adding that following some administrative complexities and river erosion, the demarcation work in 60/70 constituencies is underway. However, it will not affect the election, he said.

About the BNP’s proposal about “supporting government”, he said it is a political matter and the government will take decision over the issue.

The CEC visited the Satkhira district election office in the morning. He will also visit the Shyamnagar server station.
