Production warrant against Khaleda withdrawn

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has withdrawn the production warrant issued against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Gatco and Boro Pukuria coal mine graft cases.

Judge Abu Syed Diljar Hussain, Special Judge of Dhaka Court no-3 and Judge KSM Shah Imran of Special Judge Court -2 passed the order on Thursday.

Khaleda Zia's lawyer Hannan Bhuiyan confirmed the matter to media.

On September 2, 2007, ACC deputy director Golam Shahriar filed the Gatco corruption case with Tejgaon police station mentioning 13 names. 

In February 26, 2008, Anti-Corruption Commission deputy director Shamsul Alam filed the Barapukuria coal mine case against Khaleda and 15 others for a contract with China National Machinery Export Corporation that gave them the responsibility of producing, managing and maintaining the Barapukuria coal mine.
