Protest against forcing female students to leave DU hall

Staff Correspondent: Students and job seekers have held a protest rally against throwing out several female students from Sufia Kamal Hall of Dhaka University (DU) on midnight.

The students under the banner of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council gathered in front of Raju Memorial sculpture near TSC on DU campus around 4:00pm on Friday.

Meanwhile leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of DU unit led by its president Abid Al-Hassan and secretary Motahar Hossain Prince took position at northern side of the sculpture.

Demonstrators led by Rashed Khan and Nurul Haque Nur, joint conveners of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council, were chanting various slogans against malpractice of forcing female students to leave the hall

They also demanded resignation of the hall Provost Sabita Rezwana Rahman and gazette of quota cancellation.

It may be mentioned that an allegation raised of forcing female students who participated in quota reform movement were forced to leave Sufia Kamal Hall on Thursday midnight.

Later, Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council announced the protest programme on the night.
