Pvt varsity students stage demo for quota reform

Staff Correspondent: Blocking roads in different parts of the capital, students of privately-run universities in Dhaka have staged demonstration demanding immediate reformation in the existing quota system.

Students of North South University (NSU) started taking position at the main gate of Bashundhara residential area in the capital around 11:30am on Tuesday, pressing for quota system reform.

Later, students of Independent university of Bangladesh, American International University of Bangladesh (AIUB), United International University (UIU), East West University, Daffodil University and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) expressed their solidarity with them and demonstrated in support of quota system reform.



East West University students blocked Rampura bridge, near their campus, in the morning. Hundreds of students staged a sit-in, interrupting traffic movement, for some hours.

In Shukrabad, students of Daffodil University came down in the Mirpur Road, interrupting traffic on the busy thoroughfare, with the demand. About 400 students joined the demonstration.

They blocked the roads and chanted slogans in favour of the cause with placards at their hands.
