Quader requests city dwellers to accept sufferings 

Senior Correspondent: Expressing regret to people over the public sufferings centering the rally marking the historic March 7 at Suhrawardy Udyan, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has urged Dhaka city dwellers to accept the temporary sufferings.

He said, “The day (March 7) is a part of properties for Bengali nation. I request you to be tolerated against the temporary sufferings caused by the rally.”

“We observed our all rallies and programmes on leave days like Friday and Saturday. But we could not change the day (March 7),” he added.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader came up with the urge at his opening speech at the rally of Suhrawardy Udyan on Wednesday.

He also urged party people to take oath to root out fundamentalism from the country.

He said, “We have to take oath before the next general election likely to be held in upcoming December. We have to clinch victory beating the fundamentalist forces. Those who do not observe March 7 do not believe in the country’s liberation.”

The ruling party general secretary came up with the statement while speaking at a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Wednesday.

Awami League organized the rally as a part of its pompous observation of the historic March 7.
