Question paper leakage must be stopped

After admission tests of the universities, SSC, HSC, PEC and JSC, annual examination question papers of primary schools are being leaked? According to the reports published in media, the question papers of mathematics for class two of 140 government primary schools under Betagi upazila in Barguna district were leaked.  Earlier last week, the Munshiganj district administration suspended the Bangla examination in 113 primary schools in the district due to question paper leakage.

In Munshiganj, question papers for class two, three and four were leaked, and the sample was sent to the Deputy Commissioner's e-mail. Later, the Deputy Commissioner ordered the suspension of the examination. Question papers for class four reached the hands of students at Bagha upazila in Rajshahi in the morning. After the start of the examination in the afternoon, it was seen that the leaked question papers ware same to the original question papers. The question papers for class one and class four of Agdigha Government Primary School in Natore Sadar Upazila were leaked.

It has become a regular to leak question papers of various examinations including the highest examinations of the universities. Despite the various initiatives taken by the authorities, this question papers are being leaked. It is high alarming that the primary schools’ annual examination question papers are being leaked. It is astonishing that where we are going? Where are we actually taking the education system of the country?  The situation has become such that question papers of any level are being leaked.

The teachers have been accused of involvement with miscreants in connection with the leak of question papers. It is astonishing that our morality has fallen. Teachers are involved with question leakage. Through the leak of question papers, we are basically going to the edge of destruction. If this culture does not come to an end, then the nation will have to pay the extreme price. Education system and students will be destroyed.

It is a matter of concern that question papers are being leaked for a long time but it is not being stopped. Through the formation of syndicate, miscreants are occurring question paper leakage incidents one after another. There is no way to deny that several syndicates are involved in questioning paper linkage. They leak questions of various exams in exchange for huge money. Although the Education Minister blamed the teachers, a recent report of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) said that the education boards, Bangladesh Government Press (BG Press), treasury and examination centers are the sources of question paper leakage. Some unscrupulous officials of the organizations do this. Coaching centers, dishonest teachers and various criminal gangs are also involved in the leakage cases.

The government has already taken various initiatives to stop the question paper linkage from the BG Press. But closing a source is not enough, effective steps should be taken to stop the rest of the sources. The question leakage should be stopped at any price. Although there are laws with strict punishment for those who are involved in the leakage. But it is difficult to find an example that any gets punishment. The crime cannot be stopped if the offender is not punished. The punishment of those involved in the incidents must be ensured. It is our expectation that concerned authorities will take appropriate measures to prevent the decline of the nation.
