Quota reform leader Faruk denied bail

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has rejected the bail petition of Faruk Hassan, a joint convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, in a case filed for attacking police and vandalising vehicles during the quota reform movement.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam passed the order on Sunday after hearing on the bail petition.

Yesterday on completion of his two-day police remand, Inspector Bahauddin Faruqui of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Faruk before the court and appealed to the court to keep him in jail until the investigation ends.

On July 3, Faruk was shown arrested in a case filed for attacking police and vandalising vehicles on April 8 during the quota movement.
