Quota system should be reformed: Muhith

Special Correspondent: Finance Minister Abdul Maal Muhith said there must be quota system. But matter of discussion is what would be its percentage? The existing percentage is higher. It should be reformed.

The Minister told this to the reporters in reply to a query at a programme at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Muhith said, “The country achieved independence to build a fairly social sytem removing all discriminations. It can be accepted that one region will move forward and another will fall behind.

“Quota system must prevail. But question may be raised what percentage would be for it,” he added.

He said, “One of the ministers told me that the government is thinking over reforming the quota system. It is not under my ministry. But we will contribute our level best.”
