RAB intel chief being brought back to Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: The chief of Intelligence department of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Lt. Col. Abul Kalam Azad is being brought back to Dhaka from Singapore.

He is expected to reach Dhaka by an air ambulance around 8:00pm on Wednesday, confirmed RAB officials.

Abul Kalam Azad was sent to Singapore for advance treatment after he had sustained serious injuries in a blast near a militant den in Sylhet recently.

Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Director of RAB (legal and media), told risingbd that his (Abul Kalam Azad) health condition are now under stable. So, he is being brought back home. Details in this regard will be disclosed later.

 RAB sources said, "The RAB official (Abul Kalam Azad) lost his two eyes by bomb splinters. He also sustained injuries in his brain. He was sent to Singapore as his condition was in critical state."

Six people including two cops were killed and dozens injured as two powerful bombs went off at separate places near 'Atia Mahal', the militant den at Shibbari of the district's Dakshin Surma upazila on Saturday.
