REHAB wants VAT at 1.5 pc on rod

Economic Correspondent: Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) demanded the government to set the value-added tax at 1.5 per cent on rod and steel.
In a press conference at Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), the REHAB leaders made the disclosure on Saturday.
The organization also demanded formation of a special fund involving Tk 20,000 crore, cut in registration cost and disbursement of house loan at single interest to give a boost to the moribund real estate sector.
REHAB acting president Liakat Ali Bhuiyan, Vice-president Abudul Kaium Chowdhury, REHAB director Zahir Ahmed and REHAB co-chairman Kamal Mahmud attended the programme.
