RMG workers clash in Gazipur, BGB deployed

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: The garment workers in different parts of the Gazipur including Gazipura, Tongi, Naozor areas staged demonstration on Wednesday. Following the situation, district administration deployed Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel.

Emdad Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tongi west police station said that the workers from several garment factories started demonstration around 8:00am. At one stage, they vandalized some factories and took position on Dhaka-Mymensing highway.

Later, police removed the agitated workers from the road and the movement of vehicles became normal at noon.

Gazipur deputy commissioner Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir said a total of four platoon BGB forces were deployed in Tongi, Gazipura, Hotapara, Konabari and Mouchak areas.
