Rajshahi six-century match ends in draw

Sports Correspondent: The six-century match between Rajshahi Division and Rajshahi Division finally ended in draw at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium.

Bangladesh batman Soumya Sarkar, who featured for the Tigers in the recently concluded Asia Cup, was back among the runs after returning from the UAE as he raced to a stormy hundred on the last day of the National Cricket League Tier 1 match, playing for Khulna.

Khulna had only managed 210 in their first innings despite a ton from Tushar Imran. Rajshahi had taken a massive lead by scoring 552 in their first innings and it was left to the Khulna batsman to play out a draw.

On Wednesday, Tushar Imran again struck a ton for Khulna in the second innings and today Anamul Haque Bijoy also reached ton to get back among the runs. Anamul (113) and Tushar starred in a 254-run third-wicket stand as Khulna looked comfortably placed on the last day. Soumya, who managed only 13 in the first innings, came into bat at No.5 and struck an unbeaten 120-ball 103 with eight fours and seven sixes.

Courtesy of three tons, Khulna managed 467 runs for seven wickets before the teams agreed upon a draw.
