Rangpur Metropolitan Police Bill passed

Staff Correspondent, from JS: The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Thursday passed the "Rangpur Metropolitan Police Bill, 2018 for constituting a separate police force with a view to maintain the law and order of the Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) area.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan moved the bill in the House with Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

The bill was passed unanimously by voice votes.

Placing the bill, he said the government has enacted the draft of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Bill, 2018 for maintaining the peoples' security, improvement of the law and order and services in the city corporation area.

The bill includes various aspects such as constitution of metropolitan police force, administration of the force, command and responsibility of the Police official, command of the police commissioner, peoples' security and arrangement of law and order.
