Rape in Banani: Ban on accused issued to leave country

Staff Correspondent: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a ban on the accused to leave the country in a case filed for raping two girls at a hotel in the capital's Banani.
The DMP instruction has reached airport on Monday afternoon. Immigration police stepped up their activity since then.
Detectives are carrying out drives to arrest the accused following the issue.
The move came in passing of two days since the girls came forward with their complaint. Police are yet to arrest any of the accused as of Monday noon.
Sheikh Najmul Alam, deputy commissioner (north) of police’s Detective Branch, said, "They have received names and addresses of the rapists. Police first ran a shadow probe over the incident on the basis of allegations of the victims. Later, detectives stepped up their drives to nab the accused. The accused can be arrested at any time."
More than a team of police are working to arrest the accused. CC footage was also collected. Airport authority has been asked to remain alert so that the accused cannot flee the country, BM Forman Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Banani Police Station, told risingbd.com.
Two young men allegedly raped the girls more than a month ago in a hotel while three others assisted them. One of the victims filed a case with Banani Police Station on Saturday night.
Two young men -- Ahmed Shafat and Nayem Ashraf -- were accused of raping while Shafat's driver Billal, an unnamed bodyguard, and another young man Sadman Shafiq were accused of assisting Shafat and Nayem.
