Re-election at 9 suspended Barishal city polling centres underway

Staff Correspondent, Barishal: Re-election at nine suspended Barishal City Corporation (BCC) polling stations is underway.

The voting began at 8am on Saturday in the nine polling centres and will continue till 4pm.

However, the presence of voters was few due to drizzling in the city. No untoward situation was reported till filing the report.

The polling centers are- Ward no. 14 Alekanda Faria Community Center, Ward no. 17 government mahila college at Agarpur road, City College at Sadar Road,Ward no. 22, Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Engineering College at C&B road, Ward no. 23 RM Sagardi government primary school, Ward no. 24 Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat government high school at Rupatoli housing, Ward no. 25 Jagua secondary school at Rupatoli and Syad Majidunnesa secondary school at ward no 1.

Returning officer Md Mujibur Rahman said eight executive magistrates are working to observe the nine polling centers. Besides, sufficient police forces, BGB, RAB personnel, striking force and reserve forces have been deployed in the areas to ensure peaceful environment.

Earlier on July 30, the election commission suspended voting in eight polling centers following irregularities. Besides, presiding officer also suspended voting in another center.
