Record VAT collection at DITF

Staff Correspondent: The government has received Tk5.3 crore in its exchequer so far from the ongoing Dhaka International Trade Fair 2019. The amount was Tk5 crore in last year’s trade fair.
Dr. Moinul Khan, commissioner of Customs and VAT (Dhaka West Zone) confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.
He said that a total of Tk5.30 crore was earned from VAT till Thursday (January 7). The amount is expected to reach Tk6 crore in next two days.
Moinul Khan said the authority of Dhaka West Zone started special surveillance from January 28 forming three teams. These teams inspired the traders to pay follow the value added tax (VAT) rules and fined 25 organizations on charge of Tax evasion.
5% business Tax is applicable for most of the products in the fair. According to the law, VAT invoice should be issued during purchasing any goods.
