Robber killed in Gazipur gunfight with cops

Staff Correspondent: A suspected robber was killed in a gunfight between his associates and police at Naljani area of Gazipur city corporation on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Afaz Uddin, 34, son of Gias Uddin, hailed from Patahar area of Pagla thana in Mymensingh.

Jaydebpur police station Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam said that on information, police conducted a drive in the area this morning. Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened which triggered the gunfight. At one stage, the robbers fled the scene, leaving Afaz Uddin bullet injured.

Meanwhile, police detained two more robbers from the spot with a pistol, one round of bullet, a knife and four masks.

Later, the bullet injured Afaz was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.
