Rohingya crisis: Indonesia Foreign Minister in Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has arrived in Dhaka to discuss the Rohingya crisis of Myanmar with Bangladesh authorities.

The flight carrying Marsudi landed at the Hazrat International Airport around 12:30pm on Tuesday. Kamrul Ahsan, Secretary (Bilateral & Consular) of the Foreign Ministry, received her at the airport.

The Indonesian minister will hold meeting with her Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmood Ali at the state guest house "Padma" around 4:00pm. She is expected to urge Bangladesh government to protect fleeing Rohingya refugees.

Later, Marsudi is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gono Bhaban around 7:00pm, apparently to stand beside Bangladesh over Rohingya crisis.

Diplomatic sources said the main focus of Indonesian foreign minister’s talks with Bangladesh authorities would be for finding a lasting solution to the Rohingya crisis.

Marsudi visited Dhaka on December 20 last year after similar attack on Rohingyas in Rakhine.

She is expected to leave Dhaka today night after her brief visit.
