'Rohingya persecution is ethnic cleansing' 

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim termed Rohingya oppression in Myanmar as ethnic cleansing.

He said, "It is necessary to be united all the international quarters to ensure repatriation of Rohingya people and safe habitation for them."

The Turkey premier told this to the reporters after visiting Balukhali Rohingya camp of the district's Ukhia upazila on Wednesday.


Earlier, Turkish premier landed at Cox's Bazar airport around 11:00am on the day. From there, he headed to Balukhali Rohingya camp directly.

Turkish PM handed over two ambulances after inaugurating a medical camp there. He also talked to the Rohingya people and eagerly heard their tale of persecution.

Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali among other top officials accompanied with him.

Binali Yildirim arrived in Dhaka for a two-day official visit on Monday night. He paid tributes to Freedom Fighters of the Liberation War through placing wreaths at National Memorial at Savar, the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.

He also paid tributes to the portrait of Bangabandhu at the capital's Dhanmondi and visited Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.

Turkish PM held a meeting with Bangladesh premier Sheikh Hasina at afternoon over different bilateral issues including Rohingya.
